Networking activities are playing an important role in the business activities of Vienna, be it together with the neighbouring provinces of Lower Austria and Burgenland (=Vienna Region) or be it on a broader scale together with the Austrian neighbouring countries Czech and Slovak Republic and Hungary (=Centrope). 
BAER Centrope is a regional cooperation project focusing on the meeting point of the four countries Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary with the aim to establish a new open central European Region.
The field of activities of BAER Centrope are economy, labour market, town and regional development as well as cross border knowledge networks, society and the possibility of future administrative and political border crossing coordination.  
BusTEN is a network of Euro Info Centers assisting Small and Medium sized companies based in the EU15 member states in creating and fostering cooperation with companies of the new 10 EU member states and accompanying them on their way to internationalisation.
Tools here are business missions, cooperation and matchmaking events, internet-chats with experts and extensive information on the internet.
The Technik Akademie Vienna Region TAVR has the main aim to develop an in-service training for skilled labor and job-applicants within the field of mechatronics, automotive and manufacture-logistics and secondly, the deployment of a convertible curriculum for the establishment of a model of operation for the Technik Akademie. 
Cooperation with institutions in the Czech Republic, the Slovak Republic and Hungary ensures trans-border activities.
Another initiative is BOB „Best of Biotech – Get your business started“, a cross border business plan competition. It is open to students and scientists at university and non university research institutions as well as other individuals interested in commercial exploitation of applicants-oriented scientific research and innovation. The motivation is to take the step to become entrepreneur. The aim of BOB is to raise the number of new business ventures in life sciences.
